What is so successful about JW.org? That there is a website? So what. That the witnesses are talking about it? Directing people to it?
My multi-generational JW family thinks it's quickly getting out of hand and becoming a joke. And the tv thing? I had several family members at the annual meeting last weekend. Their thoughts on the tv.jw.org? "eh, whatever., what the hell are we, televangelists now?"
I don't get it. Are you guys serious?
i stumbled upon this website a few weeks ago due to the jw.org ridiculousness, since then i haven't been able to pull myself away.
the thoughts, feelings, and concerns i have had the past few years aren't just mine.
it's global.
Hi there.
three months ago i had to stop driving my car.
it wouldn't pass inspection and it would cost about $3k to get it up to par.. well, it's a 98 honda accord with about 179 thousand miles on it, what did i expect?.
.. i decided i would switch to riding a bicycle instead.. it has worked out fairly well.. i put about 10 miles a day on it.
That sucks Terry
In June my sister bought new bikes. One for herself, one for me. I would be so bummed if somebody took off with it.
I despise thieves. And I hope you get your bike back.
i'm giving 3 examples of this practice--that i know of personally.. .
my first wife--born in--divorced me over 30 years ago.
she totally shuns our son--now 38--d/f'd and now happily married and enjoying life to the max.. my pioneer partner--from the mid 60's-----he totally shuns his daughter---to the point of even ignoring her in the street.. a close friend of mine--in the 60's and 70's-----i was best man at his wedding.
To all of us who have been shunned by family
We've survived and are thriving. Keep on keeping on. It is terribly painful.
And yes it's worth it for staunch JWs to have children. In most cases life is worth living.
go ahead.
tell me.. "i've read the bible cover to cover.
i don't believe you.. it is damned near impossible!.
I was just trying to get through reading it cover to cover. I didn't think much about it. Although, I would jot down interesting/contradictory verses to do further research later.
I didn't think I was more righteous, knowledgeable, spiritual etc than anyone else. I just felt that a christian should have read the entire bible. At Bethel I read it b/c it was required of me as a newbie.
eta: I wasn't going to mention this but wth. For my junior year in high school we had to choose a difficult book to read for the year and write two reports (one for each semester). Guess what I chose? You got it. The bible...roflmao. I read and reported on the old testament only. My teacher was Jewish and I didn't want to risk a poor grade because of differing theological beliefs.
I was such a dork...
go ahead.

Is Terry talking about retention? I missed that in the op. I'm confirming that I and several family members have read it cover to cover. I have a few friends (JW and nonJW) who say they've read it cover to cover. I believe them.
I don't know anyone who claims to have total recall of the entire bible. Except Fred Franz and this guy on 60 minutes ( I forget his name).
go ahead.

I've read the bible cover to cover...a few times. So have a number of my family members...a few times.
Bethelites are required to read it cover to cover their first year at Bethel and then have to notify their overseers and every nosey Bethelite who asks...lol.
The pained look on the newbies' faces leads me to believe that most were making a sincere effort.
What an excruciating waste of time.
hi, i am also a practicing jehovah's witness and very proud of it,to say the very-very least..!
i am a middle-aged man with many decades of being a witness of jehovah god in england.. this important letter is personally to you, just as many of the bible's 88 letters are to be taken personal by you the reader.
i am writing to you to urge you to take stock of your life, think what your future holds for you.
roflmao - you guys are so hilarious on these threads.
The good thing is that lurkers reading this type of thread benefit "10 fold" (isn't that a JW term) over the trolls that start this crap.
as i am typing this post i am constantly looking over my shoulder to see if anybody is at my bedroom door lol guys i know i am stuck in a a cult.
but this s*** is f****** crazy!!!!.
w13 11/15 p.16 par.17 -- " at that time, the life-saving direction that we receive from jehovahs organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.
Yondaime, crazyhorse and the rest of you who are still in your teens/twenties:
Kiss the ground you walk on for blessing you with this revelation at such a young age!!!
Now take steps to get the hell outta there and live your life!
You can do it!
